Our Story & Team

Our Story

Adam McCall, our Founding Director, has been shaping landscapes for 33 years. He started at 19, trained in horticulture and permaculture design, and began with edible gardens and living landscapes before building Adam’s Garden & Structural Landscapes into the business it is today. Adam worked as a sole trader until 2009, when Taylor Gunn joined as his first apprentice. Taylor became co-owner and Managing Director in 2022, and the two now lead a team of 20 to 25 full-time staff and contractors from the Central Coast. Most of our work is for private homes, from sandstone retaining walls and terraces to native and edible gardens. That craft has also taken us onto National Parks NSW and council projects, including the Bouddi Coastal Walk, and we bring the same care to a public reserve as we do to a family’s backyard, because the land deserves it either way.

Our approach

How we work

Quality and durability

We build to last, not just to look good on handover day, using quality materials and construction methods suited to how a space will actually be used, whether that is a family backyard or a public reserve.

Respect for Country

Every project starts with an understanding of the land we are working on, its environmental values and its cultural heritage. On National Parks work, Aboriginal site monitors visit regularly, and our team has completed cultural awareness training.

Safety first

Our safety systems are written by our own team and reviewed regularly. Site-specific safe work method statements are updated every week as the work changes, and every person on site holds a White Card.

Let’s talk about your next project.

Before we turn the soil or lay a single stone, we acknowledge those who have nurtured it for generations. Adam's Garden acknowledges the Darkinjung people, the Traditional Custodians of the Central Coast, and recognises their sovereignty which was never ceded. Theirs is the original and enduring connection to this Country. We strive to walk gently and work with respect on the land they have cared for since time immemorial. We pay our respects to their Elders—past, present, and the young ones who are the new growth of their community.
